the only way to get a moon is pure luck. when you crash a fleet if there is enough debris where the crash occurred there is a chance you can get a moon. the highest chance being 20% but this doesn't always mean you will get one.

we're in a 40% debris universe if i figured correctly it would be something like 1250 light fighters to hit 20% moonchance which is 2,000,000 debris

math on this

3k metal and 1 k crystal cost each 4k total res
at 40% df
1250 * 4000 = 5,000,000 *40% = 2,000,000
at 30% df
1667 * 4000 = 6,668,000 * 30% = 2,000,400

To trade moonshots with a partner,
Build a fleet capable of winning against partner's 1667 LF (such as 350 CR or 116 BS) and station it at the planet you want your moon located.
Build a fleet of 1667 LF. Locate within striking distance of partner's desired moon planet.
Partner also builds and builds the same two identical fleets as above.
Discuss with your partner who will get the debris field, and initiate the required actions (see below)
Each of you would send your 1667 LF fleet on an attack mission against the other's superior ships.
The attacking 1667 will get destroyed by the defending ships, and the debris will give you the maximum 20% for a moonchance
If the force is with you, your 1667 LF will be demolished, and you will have given your partner a moon!
If not, repeat. Remember: 20% moonchance does NOT mean 5 tries will guarantee a moon!
also here is a list of various other ships and the amounts of them to create a 20%Probability of moon formation from ship debris

just remember that if you go by the chart seed posted thats for a 30% debris universe. barym is 40% into debris. so figure that you need 75% of the fleets listed to achieve the same amount of debris

if i understand it correctly. 1 attacks. 1 defends .. but ....stryfe wants in .. so 2 attack 1 defend ? well its moon shot n there is a slight chance of a moon forming.but not forming also.. ok if we do a 3 way , whats our best chance , with small carg...oh where do we go first . llya i will attack u first, now lets build up a fleet of small cargo , oh stryfe will what ?

please dont do a moonshot with SC but with LF!!!

lf cost 3k 1k
SC cost 2k 2k

crystal is more expensive so use LF!!

ok templer wants in .. in a quandry . as to how to do this ? but if im right ? sounds like 2 on 2 . so thats 800 light fighters.each or 3 on 1 . then its ah..what 600 each ..?. i wonder if there is a better way to do this ?say some one with a fleet allready to do the attacks?

It's easier now that we have even numbers - can just pair up. Each will need a 1250 Lf fleet to attack the other person. Only details left are who's attacking whom, when, and who is collecting the debris.

but if we do 3 on 1 .. the 3 have lower numbers each.meaning light fighters right. so now the 3 have it easier. only the 1 has to come up with the big number..think about it......oh should b no debris field if . moon appears..

my way to do "moonshot":
1- send 1 spying probe with mission attack
2- send 1250LF + 1 reck with mission attack
3- immediately after number 2 - send 110 recks with mission "collect debris"

my comments:
the debris will be collected around 30 seconds after it appears
the debris will appear always, no matter if moon is created or not
defense of the planet has to be strong enough to kill 1250 LFs easily
