building a colony Empty building a colony

this is the quickest way i have found to jump start your colonies with only one ship. To develop your colony efficiently, send resources to it in the following proportions: Ratio of M:C:D = 11:4:1 This way, with the single large cargo you will be able to develop Metal Mine L9, Crystal Mine L9, Solar Plant L9, and Robotic Factory L3. For a single large cargo, M:C:D = 16500:6000:1500 = 24000 total resources, so there is room for some extra metal/crystal and enough space for deuterium to make it to your planet. This also leaves 100 deuterium for a level 1 shipyard.

i have found its best to concentrate on building one colony up at a time using resources from all your planets to maximize how fast you can build then when you get it where you want it go ahead and work on another once they are all where you want them then start outshipping resources to your main to make it even bigger. just keep doing this and over a short period of time you can grow huge.

here is a list of the possible slot sizes slots 7,8, and 9 offer the biggest chances
Slot Max Min Average
1 108 56 99
2 110 98 104
3 188 34 96
4 199 89 159
5 225 145 185
6 230 104 191
7 242 161 200
8 244 158 206
9 238 157 200
10 221 62 184
11 204 84 171
12 200 76 154
13 161 107 115
14 108 64 86
15 185 66 73

building a colony Empty Advantages to multiple colonies in one galaxy?

Post  Guest Sat Jun 19, 2010 10:43 pm

Hi,

Probably should have asked this before I sent out the fleet!! But is there any advantage/disadvantage to setting up several colonies in one galaxy? I thought maybe there would be in the sense of supply and defence but now, thinking about it, I'm not too sure. Any thoughts?

advantage are they are close so you can send res quickly to where its needed

disadvantage they find one of your colonies they find them all

building a colony Empty Finding one colony

Good point! Well it looks like it's my home planet that's getting hit more than anything else (probably due to the resources points made above). I've started to invest more in ships and solar resources than the defenses and satellites though. I'll stop at the 4 planets and try to develop these out more for now!

i made the mistake of using fusion reactors on both of my planets , along with solar plants. boy do those reactors like deth. so now im deconstructing them one level at a time . [both at lvl 7 ].

my main relies solely on my fusion reactor which is at lvl 16 to power everything. the solar plant itself to generate the same amount of power was at like 31 so i picked up several more fields out of switching to the fusion but at the cost of 2208 deut an hour. but its worth it to me

^this

And Fusion reactors, although expensive to build, are better than solar plants late in the game. Why?

Becuase once you get up to Kommeat's level, there's one resource more valuable than metal, crystal, or deut- fields.

amen to that brother. if it wouldn't cost me a but load of points and my moon i would so get rid of my main and rebuild it somewhere that i could get bigger fields.

So does each level of a mine or facility take up another slot?

Yes, so for example if you had on your homeworld

Metal Mine-lvl 20
Crystal Mine-lvl 18
Duet Mine- lvl 18
Fusion Reactor- lvl 6
Metal Storage- lvl 5
Crystal Storage - lvl 5
Duet Storage - Lvl 5
Robotics-lvl 10
Shipyard-lvl 9
Research Lab-lvl 10

It would take up 106 slots

fields are used by:
metal mines
crystal mines
deut synths
metal/crystal/deut storage tanks
solar plants
fusion reactors
robotics
shipyard
research lab
silo
nanite factory
terraformer (uses 1 field, but provides 4)

You can see your field usage on the overview tab. It is listed in the diameter line, values in the parentheses (used/total available).

All homeworlds have 163 fields available.

Aaah, well that's reasonable. Now it makes more sense to have different planets devoted to different productions
